Production Investment Question

When I put money into production research, is the probability increase only for that round, or does it carry over subsequent rounds?

Like say I invest 3 credits into production round one, for a 4% chance.

If I do nothing round 2, do I still have a 4% chance?

If I invest 1 credit round 2 does the chance increase to 5%? Stay at 4%? Drop to 2%?

Also, does the probability of getting the upgrade reset after you get it?

It's only for that round, but the next time you invest the odds get better, so accumulative investment will eventually pay off.
