For bribing the AI, I was thinking that whoever offers the bigger bribe would not be attacked. Could be in credits, ships or techs.

Maybe some kind of bribe meter could be used. It it swings your way, the Indies won't attack you. Every turn the bribe meter would go down, unless you continue bribing. The other player could try to outbid you by bribing the Indies too. Question is, do we show the Indie bribe meter to either or both sides so they can try to outbid eachother? I'd think not as the turn order goes: player 1, player 2, Indies. So that player 2 could check the bribe meter and outbid player 1. Probably best to just go by feel, that way one side could outspend in this area and/or a bidding war could take place.

A bribeOmeter sounds good. I like the un-predictabilty of it lots. Do you commit hard earned creds ships or items to keep it firmly in your favor or do you risk going a few turns without ponying up and hope thier good will lasts, or the fact that the other house is broke and wont bribe. :wink:

Need to give things some weight do the iIdies like the creds, ships, or tech the best.

Also if you attack an Indie world the bribeOmeter should zero out in the next turn forcing you to pay big to get back into the Indies graces.

Sounds right. Note that the investing in production involves some unpredictability. Basically, for every credit you invest, you have a 5% chance of moving to the next production level. Increasing your production level increases the # of starships you get for the same fixed price.

e.g., Level-1 Production = 1 Battlecruiser for 1 credit
Level-2 Production = 2 Battlecruisers for 1 credit

I bring this up because its a question of what to do with your credits. Is adding a bribe feature excessive? These are some of the things we'll have to beta.

I should be done with the AI soon (next week), at which point I'll invite some of you to beta the game. At this stage it will be for playability as there will be no sound and the multiplayer won't really be ready for play. Should give me some valuable feedback on the game though.

Sounds good. I'm ready to beta if you so wish. As for the bribe thing being to much guess We willl have to see game play to make a judgement, but for know it sounds like it would be a fun option to have.

I'd rather play the game before I think whether or not the bribe function is of any use.
